Now most of you don't know me very well, but if you did, you would have slapped your thigh and guffawed loudly at that last statement.
I am not a natural athlete. I used to hide during PE class and am constantly bewildered by other people's enjoyment of exercise.
But last year I made a vow- to get healthier and in better shape before we start trying to get pregnant again.
Now, I'm not saying I'm a total whale; we eat healthy meals, we're all vegetarians and I make sure our meals are full of good proteins for us, such as pulses, eggs or Quorn. I'm not massively obese, but I am overweight. I was a big baby when I was born, and that has obviously given me an appetite for keeping up my rotund physique!
But I am a manic snacker. I can demolish a packet of Bourbon biscuits faster than you can spin a lettuce! And my danger time is when Boo goes for her nap- 2-4hrs of alone time with the goodies cupboard!
Last year I managed to hit my target of losing a stone in half the time I'd planned- which of course meant that I celebrated the rest of the year and put half a stone back on!
This year I started off very lazily but as we are now a quarter the way through 2014 I need to get my finger out if I'm to lose 1.5 stone by Christmas!
The last month and a bit I have been very strict with myself. I have stopped the 5:2 Diet, in favour of just good old healthy eating everyday. I don't weigh my food or work out calorie intake, but I am aware of what I'm putting in- and it is a hell of a lot less than it was a few weeks ago!
I've started doing Yoga every other day, using a Tara Lee DVD. I really enjoy it and love the peaceful, calm feeling it leaves me with, as well as a noticeable improvement to my flexibility and balance.
I've also started doing Davina's Fit in 15 DVD, which I squeeze in whenever I can, either everyday or every other.
I'm definitely feeling better in myself, my energy is up and I'm more positive and much less stressed. But the weight is proving very stubborn to shift. However, I had a breakthrough this morning and finally shifted that first pound! Hallelujah!!!
We're off on a big family holiday this weekend, to an all inclusive resort in Crete, and I am dreading being the big blobby, pasty whale by the pool! We're going with DaddyBear's fam, who are all fitness freaks!! Joy!
I am challenging myself though, to not let all my good work go to pot in a haze of limitless food and drink! The resort has yoga classes on and water aerobics, both of which I may be brave enough to try?!? We also have a swim-up room (lush I know- the in-laws are paying!) which will make a daily fitness swim easy to achieve.
So, here goes, I am going to try and do the un-doable- I am going to try and lose weight whilst on holiday!
I shall go out a flubbery, pale whale, and intend to return a slender dolphin with a fabulous tan (Hopefully!!!).
Wish me luck!
See you in a couple of weeks!
